This day will provide you with a firsthand look at how a Tip Top K9 operates, including the opportunity to observe a private lesson or a sales consultation. This experience will help solidify whether owning a Tip Top K9 aligns with your expectations, and regardless of the outcome, you’ll gain valuable insights into the industry while having a great time.

Sign Your Franchise Agreement

Once your corporation is established, we will send you a Franchise Agreement that includes a protected territory. After reviewing and signing the agreement, you will officially become a Tip Top K9 franchisee! Following this, we will schedule your comprehensive six-week initial training program.

Single/Multi-unit

Tip Top K9 is seeking both single-unit and multi-unit franchisees. Initially, you will start with one unit, and as your goals evolve, you can transition from an Operator to a Manager, and eventually to a Semi-Absentee role. We currently have four owners who successfully manage between two to four franchise locations.

Owner-Operator

A Tip Top K9 franchise is an active investment, and we seek franchisees who are committed to actively participating in their business. Candidates should have both the willingness and capability to learn and adhere to our proven system, which guarantees value and complete customer satisfaction. If you bring the eagerness to learn, we will provide the systems and support you need to succeed.

Experience

Dog training experience or prior business experience is not required. This is because our initial training program is three times longer than those of our competitors, providing you with comprehensive knowledge and skills. Additionally, we offer a range of support programs designed to guide you every step of the way, ensuring your location’s long-term success and operational excellence.

Financial Requirements

Tip Top K9 franchisees can anticipate an initial investment ranging from $68,545 to $143,915. The variation in cost depends on whether you choose a home-based location or a facility, and whether you purchase or lease a suitable vehicle. Even if you have only $20,000 in liquid assets, we offer access to numerous loan partners who can help you secure the full amount needed to launch your business.

A Tip Top K9 franchise is a dog training concept focused on enhancing the bond between people and their dogs while addressing behavioral issues. Our services include:

  • Private Lessons: A combination of dog training and client training, with follow-up homework for continued progress.
  • Board and Train Programs: We take dogs for 1-4 weeks for intensive training and then teach the owners how to maintain the progress.
  • Group Classes: Ongoing education for 2-15 clients who have previously participated in private lessons or board and train programs, typically held at public parks.

Since our launch in 2010, we have expanded to over 20 locations across nearly a dozen states.

Tip Top K9 utilizes a highly effective training system that has been successfully applied to thousands of dogs. Our approach is based entirely on classical conditioning with a training collar, which ensures that our training methods are easily transferable to our clients.

You might recall Ivan Pavlov’s classical conditioning experiments from high school, where he conditioned dogs to salivate at the sound of a bell, even without the presence of food. Similarly, our method ensures that dogs respond consistently to commands, regardless of who is delivering them, because they are conditioned to the response itself.

In contrast, most dog trainers rely on operant conditioning, which combines positive and negative reinforcement along with various tools. While this method can be effective, it often involves more complexity and can be challenging for clients to apply consistently. Our classical conditioning approach simplifies the training process and enhances the client’s ability to maintain and reinforce the training outcomes.

Yes, we collaborate with several third-party lenders to offer a range of financing options. These lenders provide franchise owners with the funds needed to either open their first location or expand their existing network of stores.

The initial franchise fee is $58,000.

The royalty fee is 6% of monthly sales and the marketing fee is $850 a month. 

 

Most locations begin as home-based operations for the first 6-12 months to quickly achieve profitability. After this initial period, franchisees typically transition to a facility of 2,000 to 3,000 square feet for their first permanent location. The size of the facility may vary based on the number of board and train programs being conducted or the focus on private lessons.

Initially, you will be the sole employee. Depending on your goals and the size of your territory, you could expand to having 2-5 employees within the first 1-2 years.  We have locations with similar gross revenue figures but differing operational structures. One location operates with 2-3 employees and an owner who works 60-65 hours per week, while another location has 6 employees and the owner works 20+ hours per week. The former focuses on achieving higher financial goals, whereas the latter provides more freedom and allows the owner to prioritize family and personal time.

Our new owner training program includes a comprehensive six-week course that combines business training with hands-on experience at our Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to this, we provide two weeks of sales and theory training through Zoom calls to familiarize you with our processes. Additionally, we hold two training conferences each year and offer ongoing support through our corporate training and development team. This continuous support ensures that owners, managers, and team members receive the resources they need to succeed.
